Winter Programs

Each winter SOLE offers various out-of-school experiential education programs for youth to explore and learn about their winter wildlands at SOLE’s Mountain Field Campus at Schweitzer, one of (2) National Flagship SnowSchool Sites.  From 2-day avalanche awareness programs for those backcountry adventure seekers to 5-day STEM Camps based on developing outdoor living and travel skills, we have have an out-of-school SOLE SnowSchool Experience for you!

SnowSchool Experience Program | STEM Camp

Explore and learn in your winter wildlands!  Students 9-11 years old will engage in hands-on lessons that focus on developing STEM literacy (science, technology, engineering, and math) in a fun and engaging manner.  From building Athabaskan quinzhees to snow caves or igloos, learning about our natural world and more, students will leave this SOLE Experience with a new found sense of adventure for all things winter!

SnowSchool Experience Program | Aavalanche Awareness

Explore and learn in your winter wildlands!  Students 10-12 years old will engage in hands-on lessons that develop STEM literacy (science, technology, engineering, and math) while simultaneously learning and honing skills related to understanding and mitigating the avalanche phenomena.  SOLE’s SnowSchool Experience program is the perfect fit to introduce your young powder hound to these essential skills!
