As a grassroots nonprofit, our board of directors serves as the engine behind the mission. From program design and implementation to fundraising and governance SOLE’s board or directors works in tandem with our Executive Director and staff to ensure that organization’s strategic plan is carried out day-to-day and year-to-year.
We ask our board members too:
- Serve on the board for a minimum of 2 years (we have found that board members are most successful and put their strengths to use once they fully understand the inner-workings of the organization)
- Serve on at least (1) committee (in addition to sitting on the board as committees are where the work really happens!)
- Dedicate 2.5 hours per month (to meet as a board and to complete committee work)
- Dedicate additional time during campaign and/or fundraising events (as able)
