Seasonal Experience | Winter Backcountry Emergency Response Hybrid (BERH)

In collaboration with local Wilderness Medical Associates (WMA) instructor(s) and American Avalanche Association (A3) instructors from the Friends of the Idaho Panhandle Avalanche Center (IPAC), Selkirk Outdoor Leadership and Education (SOLE) is combining our winterWilderness First Aid (WFA) Course and ourAvalanche Rescue Course to offer a comprehensive winter backcountry emergency response course.
This (3) day/24-hour course is intentionally-designed to develop and hone emergency response skills related to avalanche rescue and wilderness medicine and as a result, develop the confidence to complete complex avalanche rescues, and effectively treat your buried victim(s) when beyond definitive medical care. With the vast majority of avalanche victims dying from asphyxiation and trauma-related injuries this course combination is a must for anyone interested in developing and maintaining winter backcountry emergency response skills.
As an effort to assist our community members in the development of these essential skills, SOLE and our program partners are offering this course at a reduced rate. In addition, all proceeds will go towards supporting SOLE and IPAC’s nonprofit programs.
